Bexley Selection Test for September 2027 entry

The 2026 Bexley Selection Test window ended on 10 September. Bexley’s published timetable listed result emails from 4pm on Friday 2 October 2026. If the email is still missing after checking the junk folder, contact the School Admissions Team at selectiontests@bexley.gov.uk. ^{[1] [2]}

The 2026 Headteacher Review request window closed on Friday 16 October. Bexley says requests received after that date will not be considered. ^[3]

The council’s secondary-application page separately says an online result lookup will be available in October, with its date still to be confirmed. Check the live council pages before relying on that lookup.^[5] For Bexley residents, the next live deadline is the separate secondary-school application: 11.59pm on Saturday 31 October 2026. Families who live elsewhere apply through their home local authority and should use that council’s exact deadline. If a review was requested on time, Bexley says to include at least one Bexley grammar school as a preference so it can be considered if the review changes the decision.^{[5] [3]} These dates are for children seeking September 2027 secondary entry, not a reusable timetable for another year.

The test is open regardless of where a child lives, but it is valid only for the four Bexley grammar schools. A single Bexley Selection Test is used for all four.^[2]

After results: check school information before applying

Bexley brings its current secondary-school information and open-day details together on one council page. It lists visits and links to each school’s website, while warning that dates and times can change. Use the council page as a starting point, then confirm booking details with the school before travelling.^[6]

An open day can help a family compare preferences, but it does not change the admissions rules. Read each preferred school’s current policy, use the application source checklist to keep the official details together, and submit the separate secondary-school application through the home local authority by its published deadline. Format described by Bexley Council

Bexley says the test has two separate, timed multiple-choice booklets, both taken in the same session. Each paper lasts approximately 50 minutes, with additional time for instructions and a short break between papers.^[2]

The published content covers verbal ability and English comprehension, numerical reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning. The council’s guide links to the provider’s familiarisation exercises and parent and pupil information booklets. Access arrangements were a separate, earlier application

For this cycle, parents or carers had to send a supported request to the child’s school by the final day of the 2026 spring term. The school then had a separate deadline to confirm that the requested arrangements reflected normal classroom practice.^[4] Requesting access arrangements did not register a child for the Selection Test; both processes were required. Do not reuse these deadlines for a later cycle.

The test and the school application are separate

For Bexley residents, the secondary-school application opened on 1 September 2026 and closes at 11.59pm on 31 October 2026. Families who live elsewhere apply once through their home local authority, including when a preferred school is in Bexley, and must follow that council’s deadline.^[5]

To be considered for a Bexley grammar school, the school must still appear as a preference on that application. Being deemed selective does not itself secure a place: schools apply their own published admissions and oversubscription criteria.^[7]

Some preferences need another school-owned step. For this cycle, Bexley lists Beths Grammar School, Bexley Grammar School, and Townley Grammar School among the schools requiring a Supplementary Information Form (SIF). Obtain the form from the school and return it directly by that school’s deadline. The SIF does not replace naming the school on the council application.^[5]

If the result is not selective

Bexley’s dedicated 2026 review timetable allowed requests only through the child’s headteacher. The request window ran from Monday 5 to Friday 16 October 2026 and is now closed. Bexley says requests received after 16 October will not be considered.^[3]

For a request submitted on time, the panel considers the evidence in early November, after Bexley’s 31 October secondary-school application deadline. School Admissions says it will email the outcome to the headteacher by Tuesday 24 November 2026. The family should still include at least one Bexley grammar school on the application so it can be considered if the decision changes.^[3]

This is a headteacher-led review. The council says the independent panel changes selective decisions only in exceptional circumstances, and its decision is final.^[2]
