How good practice works

Start with a clear skill and a dependable method. Work accurately before adding time pressure, ask the child to explain why an answer follows, and use mistakes to choose one small area to revisit. Speed without understanding can make an unreliable method feel familiar.

Short sessions are easier to repeat and easier to learn from. A useful rhythm is to answer a few questions, read the explanations, notice one pattern in the mistakes, then return to that skill another day.
