Entry information

Ashford School’s Year 7 entry assessment is an online multiple-choice Atom Learning test covering English, non-verbal reasoning and numerical ability. Families register with a recent school report, and the school requests a current-school reference. UK applicants attend an assessment day where possible; supervised arrangements are available for those unable to attend.

Entry stage: Year 7

What the assessment covers

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Non-verbal reasoning

Assessment provider: Atom Learning

The admissions process

  • Visit or contact the Senior School admissions team; register the applicant and provide the latest school report.
  • With parent permission, the school requests a reference from the current school.
  • UK Year 7 applicants are asked to attend a Year 7 Assessment Day if possible and take an online multiple-choice Atom Learning test in English, non-verbal reasoning and numerical ability. Applicants unable to attend complete the online assessment under exam conditions at school, an agent’s office or the British Council.
  • Try the school-linked Atom familiarisation: select Assessments 11+ (Current Year 6) to see the Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning sample questions.
  • After assessment marking and receipt of the reference, the school may offer a place; acceptance requires online paperwork and a refundable £500 deposit.
  • Discuss any learning or access needs with admissions before the assessment, and provide supporting reports so the school can consider suitable arrangements.
