Entry information

For September 2027 entry

Battle Abbey offers Year 7 entry through an individual assessment, school reports, a reference and a conversation with a school leader. Its September 2027 entry guide schedules a Year 7 Joiners’ Day on 20 November 2026, including an online CEM test and group activities. The school describes itself as mixed ability and uses assessments mainly to help place pupils in suitable teaching groups.

Entry stage: Year 7

Assessment provider: CEM

The admissions process

  • Complete both the standard Registration Form and the separate New Joiners’ 2027 Entry Form, with the requested documents. The deadline to register for the November Joiners’ Days is 6 November 2026.
  • The Year 6 Experience Day is on 7 November 2026, followed by the Year 7 Joiners’ Day on Friday 20 November 2026.
  • The Joiners’ Day runs from 9.30am to 2.30pm and includes group activities, an online CEM test on a school-provided laptop, lunch and an individual conversation with a school leader.
  • Bring a water bottle and basic stationery, and wear school uniform or smart clothes if home educated. Children may bring examples of their interests or achievements to discuss.
  • The school considers reports and a reference from the current school. Subject scholarship sessions are separate and are only needed when applying for those awards.
  • Offer letters are scheduled for 4 December 2026, with acceptance due by 8 January 2027. Families interested in a bursary should discuss the process with admissions after receiving an offer.
  • The school considers applications at other times where places remain; contact admissions if the main November assessment dates do not suit your family.
