Entry information
Brian Jackson College placements are referred through schools and local authorities to match provision to the young person’s needs. Its admissions policy describes document review, family visits, SEND and pastoral assessment, English and Mathematics baselines and a personalised transition. EHCP placements require agreement on the named provision and local-authority funding before the start.
Entry stage: Referral placement (KS3, KS4 and post-16)
The admissions process
- Ask the current school or local authority to make a referral with needs, attendance and assessment information; the referral page covers KS3, KS4 and post-16 provision.
- For dual-registration applications, provide the My Support Plan with at least two reviews and the requested reports.
- The college reviews documents and meets the young person and family to discuss suitability and placement arrangements. EHCP consultations also require local-authority agreement on provision and funding.
- Assessment and induction include SEND screening, online English and Mathematics baselines, PASS, Boxall and a pastoral meeting to build an individual profile.
- Agree a personalised transition and an initial six-week assessment period to develop support. The policy describes post-16 EHCP referrals and September starts separately.
