Year 7 entry

For September 2027 entry

For September 2027 Year 7, Calday used the Wirral Consortium’s two-paper assessment on 15 September 2026: verbal reasoning, then mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. Calday’s own page says requests close 31 May in Year 5, while the 2026 consortium guide states noon 1 June 2026; both have passed. The home local-authority school preference is a separate step. The computerised assessment in its policy is for in-year transfers.

What the assessment covers

  • Verbal reasoning
  • Non verbal reasoning
  • Mathematics

St Anselm’s College and Upton Hall School arrange their own Catholic grammar assessments.

Meeting the grammar standard does not guarantee a place; each school applies its admission policy.

Use Wirral Council’s current timetable for deadlines; the candidate pack’s 31 May registration date is superseded by the council’s noon 1 June 2026 closure.
