Year 8 entry

For September 2027 entry

Dalriada’s current information links families to the 2026 SEAG Entrance Assessment, whose outcomes are intended for 2027 Year 8 admissions. The two papers are scheduled for 14 and 21 November 2026, with outcomes planned for 23 January 2027. Registration closed on 18 September 2026. Dalriada’s admissions page still lists its 2025–26 criteria, so confirm the school’s final 2027 Year 8 criteria when published.

What the assessment covers

  • English or gaeilge
  • Mathematics

SEAG includes fully and partially selective member schools; this page links only to schools present in the Plusling Index.

Two Dickson Plan senior high schools in the index take pupils at 14+ and are not SEAG Year 8 members.

SEAG membership does not mean every applicant must take the assessment. Check the school’s selective and all-ability routes before choosing preparation or applying.

The admissions process

  • For Year 8 entry in 2027, register with SEAG; the registration period ran from 18 May to 18 September 2026 and is now closed.
  • Pupils sit both SEAG papers: Paper 1 on 14 November 2026 and Paper 2 on 21 November 2026. Each paper assesses English (or Gaeilge) and Mathematics.
  • SEAG plans to release outcomes on 23 January 2027. Its 2026 guidance says the results are intended for use within 2027 Year 8 admissions criteria at participating schools.
  • Dalriada’s school admissions page currently links 2025–26 criteria only; check for its 2027-specific criteria and the EA transfer-application dates before applying.
