What the assessment covers

  • English comprehension
  • Mathematics
  • Creative writing ( devonport high school for boys only)

Read the chosen school’s own admission policy and registration instructions; the common papers do not make the three admission policies identical.

DHSB says its school familiarisation papers do not fully replicate the Quest external papers.

  • The school’s timetable gives English comprehension on 12 September and maths on 19 September 2026; the published results date was 15 October.
  • Submit school preferences through your home local authority. Plymouth residents apply through Plymouth City Council by 31 October 2026; the council’s offer date is 1 March 2027.
  • Eligible Free School Meals or Ever 6 applicants should ask their current school to complete part B of the supplementary form and return it to Plymouth’s School Admissions Team by 31 October 2026.
  • The school publishes 158 Year 7 places and has no catchment area; test performance and its oversubscription criteria determine offers.
