Entry information

Hall Grove welcomes pupils into Year 7, within its Years 7–8 section for ages 11–13. The school’s general prep-year process is a two-day visit with Maths and English assessments, lesson observation and a report from the current school. Its separate GCSE provision begins in Year 9. Contact Admissions for current availability and arrangements.

  • Mathematics

The admissions process

  • Hall Grove describes Years 7 and 8 as its senior pupils aged 11–13 and says it welcomes applicants into Year 7.
  • The current admissions page groups Years 7–8 with other prep-school years: prospective pupils spend two days at school, are assessed in Maths and English, observed in class and may have an informal interview if entering Year 4 or above. A current-school report informs the decision.
  • Hall Grove’s separate GCSE pathway runs from Year 9 to Year 11; the first Year 9 cohort started in September 2025. Its published external Senior School Assessment Day relates to that later GCSE provision, not the ordinary Year 7 prep-year process.
  • No Year 7 cohort deadline or named assessment date is published. Contact the school about places and timing.
