Entry information
Heartwood House is a small independent school for young people who are out of school or whose mental health is harmed by continued attendance in another setting. It provides Key Stage 3 and 4 education, with places considered individually. Referrals are normally received through a local-authority SEN team; the school then contacts parents/carers to arrange an informal visit. Its 2026 admissions policy also allows a parent or commissioning agent to seek admission. This is a specialist placement, not a general Year 7 route.
Entry stage: Specialist Key Stage 3–4 provision for pupils aged 11–17; admissions are assessed individually
The admissions process
- A referral is received, commonly from the local-authority SEN team. The current policy says a parent or commissioning agent may also seek admission.
- The school reviews the paperwork for suitability and responds to the local authority within 14 days of referral.
- Parents/carers are contacted to arrange an informal visit. The school assesses each pupil individually; no standard entrance exam or calendar is published.
