Entry information
King’s Bruton is a coeducational school for ages 13–18, with usual entry in Year 9 or Year 12. It does not normally take Year 7 pupils directly. Registered Year 7 applicants for Year 9 consideration are assessed using current-school standardised results, a Head’s report and a meeting with the King’s Head; the school says there are no set Year 7 admission dates. Final admission may be conditional on satisfactory academic performance, including Common Entrance where appropriate; those results also inform setting.
Entry stage: Usual entry is Year 9/age 13 or Year 12/age 16; Year 7 pupils may register for deferred Year 9 consideration.
The admissions process
- For the usual Year 9 entry, families register and the school requests reports and predicted public-exam results.
- Families seeking deferred Year 9 consideration may register in Year 7; the school requests standardised school results and the Head’s report and holds a meeting with the Head.
- Final admission may be conditional on satisfactory academic performance and, where appropriate, successful Common Entrance; the school also uses results for setting.
