What the assessment covers

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Non verbal reasoning
  • Writing

Kent’s linked familiarisation paper reflects the GL test used for September 2027 entry; Quest-specific material for September 2028 entry is still to come.

Check each school’s admission rules before applying; a Kent Test result does not itself secure a place.

The admissions process

  • The school’s admissions policy is explicitly for September 2027 entry. Applicants must qualify through Kent’s PESE (Kent Test) procedure and apply through the local authority coordinated scheme.
  • The September 2026 Kent Test for this September 2027 cohort was supplied by GL Assessment. The papers cover English and mathematics, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, plus a writing exercise. Quest Assessments will first supply the 2027 test for September 2028 entry.
  • Kent Test decisions were sent on 15 October 2026. For Kent residents, the 2027 secondary school application deadline is midnight on Monday 2 November 2026.
  • Where Pupil Premium priority or previous care outside England applies, return the school’s separate SIF by 31 October 2026. The SIF does not replace the local-authority secondary application.
