Year 8 entry

For September 2027 entry

Omagh Academy uses SEAG for Year 8. Its accessible September 2026 criteria rank applicants by SEAG Total Standardised Age Score, subject to separate special-circumstances and special-provisions procedures. Those rules are historical for September 2027; registered pupils sit the 14 and 21 November 2026 SEAG papers, then families apply through the separate EA Year 8 process when announced.

Assessment
Northern Ireland SEAG

What the assessment covers

  • English or gaeilge
  • Mathematics

SEAG includes fully and partially selective member schools; this page links only to schools present in the Plusling Index.

Two Dickson Plan senior high schools in the index take pupils at 14+ and are not SEAG Year 8 members.

SEAG membership does not mean every applicant must take the assessment. Check the school’s selective and all-ability routes before choosing preparation or applying.

The admissions process

  • Omagh Academy states it has used SEAG for Year 8 admissions since 2023. Its currently linked detailed criteria PDF applies to September 2026 entry and ranks SEAG scores with defined special-circumstances and special-provisions routes; ask for the September 2027 criteria when available.
  • The Academy’s 2026 registration notice gives 18 May–18 September 2026 for the main period. SEAG subsequently opened an emergency window for unregistered September 2027 transfer pupils on 19–20 October 2026, then said registration would not reopen. Papers are scheduled for 14 and 21 November 2026, with outcomes on 23 January 2027.
  • SEAG assessment guide describes two papers covering Language and Literacy (English or Gaeilge) and Mathematics and Numeracy, based on the NI Key Stage 2 curriculum.
  • The Academy has a separate Years 9–12 route which requires a Cognitive Ability Test and school reports.
