Year 8 entry

For September 2027 entry

Our Lady's Grammar School Newry is a girls’ grammar school that uses SEAG for the September 2027 Year 8 cohort. SEAG uses two papers covering English/Language and Mathematics/Numeracy. The school-specific criteria document available on 24 October 2026 covers September 2026 entry; the Education Authority says September 2027 admissions guidance will be published in December 2026, so do not reuse last year's selection criteria for the next cycle. SEAG registration for this sitting closed on 20 October 2026; only already registered pupils can take the November papers.

What the assessment covers

  • English or gaeilge
  • Mathematics

SEAG includes fully and partially selective member schools; this page links only to schools present in the Plusling Index.

Two Dickson Plan senior high schools in the index take pupils at 14+ and are not SEAG Year 8 members.

SEAG membership does not mean every applicant must take the assessment. Check the school’s selective and all-ability routes before choosing preparation or applying.

The admissions process

  • For the September 2027 cohort, only pupils already registered by SEAG’s final 20 October 2026 window can sit the 14 and 21 November papers. Families who missed registration should read the school’s published criteria, including any provision without a score, and ask the school and EA about their available options.
  • For Year 8 place selection, submit the Education Authority transfer application when its September 2027 process opens.
  • Our Lady’s 2026–2027 criteria are for September 2026 entry; the Education Authority had not yet published the September 2027 application procedure by 24 October 2026.
