Year 7 entry

For September 2027 entry

For September 2027 Year 7 entry, pupils must be assessed as suitable for a grammar-school place through the Kent procedure and list Queen Elizabeth’s on their local-authority application. The Kent tests for this intake have already taken place. Kent residents apply by 2 November 2026; other families should follow their home authority’s deadline.

What the assessment covers

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Non verbal reasoning
  • Writing

Kent’s linked familiarisation paper reflects the GL test used for September 2027 entry; Quest-specific material for September 2028 entry is still to come.

Check each school’s admission rules before applying; a Kent Test result does not itself secure a place.

The admissions process

  • Use the school’s September 2027 admissions policy to check the Year 7 route and allocation priorities. A suitable Kent assessment does not guarantee a place.
  • Submit your secondary-school application through your home local authority. Kent residents have a 2 November 2026 deadline; residents elsewhere should confirm their own authority’s closing date.
  • If claiming the targeted Free School Meals or Pupil Premium priority, complete Part A of the school’s 2027–28 supplementary form, ask the current school to complete Part B, and return it to the Admissions Officer by the form’s stated closing date. This form is additional to the local-authority application.
  • Use the official Kent familiarisation for the relevant test cycle. GL applies to the 2026 tests for 2027 entry; Quest’s first Kent test is in 2027 for 2028 entry, with new familiarisation to follow.
  • For admissions enquiries, contact 01795 533132 or lr@queenelizabeths.kent.sch.uk. In-year CATs testing is a separate route from normal Year 7 Kent selection.
