Entry information

Refocus considers referrals case by case and says it has no formal entry requirements. The school invites the young person, family and referrer to meet and visit, reviews needs and risk information, and may offer a probation period. English and Maths diagnostics are used after admission to plan support, not as a selection test.

Entry stage: Specialist placement for ages 14–16

The admissions process

  • A family, school or other referrer discusses a possible placement with Refocus
  • The school reviews needs and risk information and arranges a meeting and visit
  • The school makes an individual suitability decision and may use a probation period
  • Diagnostic Maths and English/reading-age assessments after admission help plan learning support
