Year 7 entry

For September 2027 entry

For September 2027 Year 7 entry, Sale Grammar used the shared Trafford Consortium GL assessment. Test registration closed at noon on 19 June 2026 and the exam took place on 14 September. Families must separately name Sale Grammar on their home-authority secondary application by that council’s deadline; the school applies its own admission policy to eligible applicants.

The admissions process

  • Register once for the Trafford Grammar School Consortium test, choosing which member schools receive the result; Sale’s registration window closed at noon on 19 June 2026.
  • Sit the shared GL assessment; the September 2027-entry test took place on 14 September 2026.
  • After receiving the test result, name Sale Grammar on the secondary school application to your home local authority by its deadline. Trafford residents should use the council’s 31 October 2026 closing date.
  • Sale Grammar applies its published qualifying and oversubscription criteria; a test result alone is not a place offer.
