Year 7 entry
For September 2027 entry
Stroud High uses the Gloucestershire Grammar Schools shared entrance test for Year 7. September 2027 entry uses GL Assessment; the new FSCE test applies to September 2028 entry. The school has no catchment area and requires a separate home-local-authority school application.

What the assessment covers
- Verbal ability
- Numerical reasoning
- Non verbal reasoning
A qualifying rank is not an offer: a school must also be listed on the secondary application.
The schools have announced FSCE as provider for September 2028 entry, so current GL materials may not describe that later test.

The admissions process
- For September 2027 entry, the school’s policy sets 150 Year 7 places; applicants must reach its qualifying standard and places follow the school’s oversubscription rules.
- Submit the Common Application Form to your home local authority by 31 October 2026. Meeting the qualifying standard does not itself offer a place.
- Stroud High has no catchment area; out-of-county applications are accepted.
- The school describes a late-test route for applicants who missed the September 2026 main test; it does not allow an initial allocation on 1 March 2027. The January 2027 test details were still to be confirmed.
