Entry information

For September 2027 entry

Surbiton High’s September 2027 Year 7 selection uses English and Mathematics assessments on 21 November 2026, followed by a small-group interview for every candidate in December 2026 or early January 2027. The school does not provide past or sample papers.

Entry stage: Year 7 (11+)

What the assessment covers

  • English
  • Mathematics

The admissions process

  • General registration closes at noon on 2 November 2026; the entrance examination is on 21 November 2026.
  • English takes approximately 50–60 minutes: online comprehension and handwritten creative writing respond to one unseen fiction or non-fiction text.
  • Mathematics takes approximately 30 minutes online, without a calculator, assessing numerical skills, reasoning and problem solving at Key Stage 2 level.
  • All candidates attend a small-group discussion with up to three applicants in December 2026 or early January 2027, including discussion of unseen academic material.
  • The school requests a confidential current-school report before the examination. Offers are normally issued at the beginning of February 2027.
