Plan your approach

Entry information

The school’s usual entry point is 15–18 months. It says older children may sometimes enter when a place becomes available, but the published route is a waiting list and possible trial day rather than a regular Year 7 11+ intake.

Entry stage: Waiting list; occasional older-child vacancy

The admissions process

  • Contact the school and attend an open afternoon at a site to learn about its Montessori approach.
  • If the school appears suitable, complete the waiting-list application online or by post. The application page states that a £50 non-refundable administration fee is payable; joining the waiting list does not guarantee a place.
  • When a place becomes available, the school invites the family and child to visit. If the family remains interested and a place is available, the school may arrange a trial day.
  • If the school judges that the child will thrive in the environment and a place is available, it sends a written offer. Reply in writing within two weeks to accept.

Before you enquire

  • The admissions page describes its 2025/26 application cohort as children turning three that academic year or transfers from other AMI Montessori schools; this date has passed, so ask what applications are currently being considered.
  • Ask specifically whether a place for an older child at the Hove site is available. The school says older placements arise only occasionally.
  • The school’s waiting list and possible trial day are not a published Year 7 entrance examination.

Plusling’s guide to The Montessori Place is independently written. The school and its admissions authority publish the official arrangements.
