Quest Assessments supplies 11+ admissions tests to grammar schools and independent schools, but each school chooses its own papers and structure. Quest asks families to check the school’s or local authority’s website for the format that applies.[1]

What Quest familiarisation includes

Quest’s parent guidance page provides free familiarisation materials so children know what to expect before test day:[1]

  • example 11+ questions and answer-sheet practice;
  • a short online familiarisation assessment covering the subjects delivered at 11+; and
  • downloadable guides, including a child’s guide to preparing for a grammar school 11+ exam, an assessment walkthrough, a vocabulary list and recommended reading lists for Years 3 to 6.[1]

These resources show question style, navigation and answer method; they are not a past paper from a particular school, and your child’s school or consortium still sets the subjects and timings that apply.[1]

Areas moving to Quest for September 2028 entry

Several grammar school areas have announced a change of provider for children taking the test in 2027 for September 2028 entry:

  • Kent: Quest Assessments supplies the Kent Test from the 2027 sitting for September 2028 entry, while GL Assessment supplied the test for September 2027 entry.[2] Read the Kent Test guide for current local arrangements.
  • Bournemouth and Poole: the consortium tests from September 2027 for September 2028 entry will be provided by Quest Assessments, whereas September 2027 entry used GL Assessment papers.[3] See the Bournemouth and Poole grammar schools guide.

Always use the official guidance and familiarisation materials that match your child’s entry year.

Choose relevant practice without pretending it is the real test

Plusling practice uses original questions written for Plusling. It is not Quest familiarisation, a Quest paper, or a representation of a school’s test.

Once you have checked which subjects your child’s assessment covers, explore Plusling’s English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning guides, or try five original questions free in the subject practice library.

What still needs a local check

  • Which subjects and sections your school's Quest assessment includes.
  • Whether it is online or on paper, and how its sections are timed.
  • Whether the school adds creative writing, an interview or a group task.
  • The current registration dates and access arrangements for your child's entry year.
